The best current low-priced Ableton Controller!??

As I continue to build up my DJ setup, I am soon gonna purchase an Ableton controller me thinks....so I was wondering, what is the best one on the market today that's a decent price?

I just invested $$ to get MultiDynamics 5 to use in Ableton. Wow, what an AMAZING set of EQ plugins!!!!! Got it after learning it's what a lot of major producers/DJ uses on the DL....and I have seen huge mixers at major concerts/EDM events have it built it into right into the muxer and they use it to EQ the system for the event.

Anyhow, continuing my quiet renewing and am super happy with how I am on a normal mixer finally, but sick of having to adjust effets and small EQing within Ableton..want an an external controller for that.

Gimme some tips!!

I'll be releasing a new mix soon....hopefully you'll notice a step up in improvement from my past mixes to the new ones. I (sounding like a broken record now) personally see a hgue diff with what I've done so far...thanks to both the additions to the setup I made and going by your feedback (usualyl via PM)....even in the past month or two!!! Having no job has minor benefits lol. I won't say you'll be blown away, but love it when people support others and give constructive feedback....all I ever want!

I've been eying the Evolution UC-33e for a while, lots of knobs faders and buttons arranged simply for about $200. If I had more money/smoked less weed I might be looking at getting some of the FaderFox devices or one of the A&H mixers with built-in MIDI control. what's your budget btw?

Yeah, I was looking at the FaderFox ones, but I think I'd have to get the LV2 + LD2...to do more effects.

Rizo...smartass!

Probably only a few hundred for now. If I can get a new job quickly once I'm in LA and still have most of my severance left I hope to buy one that _I_ want with a much bigger budget...and then I'll have that + a backup in case anything ever happens to my main one!

I've been using the Novation remoteSL for my production because of the automapping feature and it's SICK. But, it's not cheap.

below are great cheaper alternatives.

Akai Pro:
MPD32 - http://www.akaipro.com/mpd32
MPD24 - http://www.akaipro.com/mpd24

Korg Nano Series..
Super cheap and small $60 each - great for traveling. They easily fit into any bag and if it breaks it's cheap enough to replace.

I've heard good things about all of those before but they seem better suited to production rather than live DJ'ing, confirm/deny?

Personally, I just ordered a Bitstream 3X and am waiting on it to get here. The Novation Zero SL & UC33e seem to be the other two popular controllers amongst Ableton users.

heard that the Bitstream 3x suffers from shoddy quality of construction from a couple people, let me know how yours holds up cause that's another one I've thought about (if only I could afford it).

Care to expand on what you've heard? I've heard the opposite.

I heard the first run of them were built like tanks, but then they switched to cheap plastic housing and less rigorous construction generally when it started getting distributed in the US and had problems with knobs and faders breaking easily and being generally unable to withstand any shocks. info based on an admittedly small sample size, I would love for the opposite to be true cause it looks like a great controller otherwise.

Interesting. I'll let you know how it turns out. I know the housing is metal, but hadn't heard about the knobs & faders.
