Pope wants to exterminate Gays

quote:
Pope Benedict XVI has said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction.

He explained that defending God's creation was not limited to saving the environment, but also about protecting man from self-destruction.

The Pope was delivering his end-of-year address to senior Vatican staff.

His words, later released to the media, emphasised his rejection of gender theory.

Speaking on Monday, Pope Benedict XVI warned that gender theory blurred the distinction between male and female and could thus lead to the "self-destruction" of the human race.

Gender theory

Gender theory explores sexual orientation, the roles assigned by society to individuals according to their gender, and how people perceive their biological identity.

Gay and transsexual groups, particularly in the United States, promote it as a key to understanding and tolerance, but the Pope disagreed.

When the Roman Catholic Church defends God's Creation, "it does not only defend the earth, water and the air... but (it) also protects man from his own destruction," he said.

"Rainforests deserve, yes, our protection, but the human being ... does not deserve it less," the pontiff said.

It is not "out-of-date metaphysics" to "speak of human nature as 'man' or woman'", he told scores of prelates gathered in the Vatican's sumptuous Clementine Hall.

"We need something like human ecology, meant in the right way."

The Catholic Church opposes gay marriage. It teaches that while homosexuality is not sinful, homosexual acts are.

Rev Sharon Ferguson, chief executive of Britain's Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, described the Pope's remarks as "totally irresponsible and unacceptable".

"When you have religious leaders like that making that sort of statement then followers feel they are justified in behaving in an aggressive and violent way," she said.

'Rock festival'

The pope uses his traditional end-of-year speech to offer his Christmas greetings and say a few words about what he considers the important issues of the day.

This year, Pope Benedict also deplored the tendency to depict the Catholic church's World Youth Day, which he attended in Sydney earlier this year, as mere spectacle.

He stressed that the event should not be considered a "variant of modern youth culture, as a kind of ecclesiastical rock festival with the Pope as the star," but as the fruition of a "long exterior and interior path".

I think your tag line "pope wants to exterminate gays" is a tad misleading. The Pope has not advocated any action against homosexuals in his speech; rather, he stated that gender theory is dangerous to the survival of the human species. To even suggest that the church wants to kill or otherwise eliminate homosexuals completely misconstrues the church's position on homosexuality, which is and has forever been that homosexuality is perfectly acceptable; however, sexual acts between persons of the same sex is a sin. I'm not saying I agree with the church but your suggestion that the pope thinking gender theory is dangerous as it legitimizes homosexual sex equates to the church wanting to eliminate homosexuals is way off base.

It is too bad the Pope doesn't want to talk about the growing number of sexual abuses spreading across his churches.

I actually don't have a problem with that. If there's no discussion yet you're free to start some.

About what? That's like treating the PDD as the comments section of HuffPo.

Of course you don't have a problem with that, you're one of the people who does it.

It's just like how gays see nothing wrong with their abominable acts against God and country - they do it, so they see nothing wrong with it.

Actually, it's a lot like that in your case, hmmm...

Really, you're quoting an article from 2001... do you have anything more current to suggest that this remains a growing number? The church has taken action in this regard so unless you can supply evidence that said action is not working then I think your comment is really nothing more then digging into the past to discredit the church... ya might want to look at the counsel of Nicea or the sale of indulgences in the latter middle ages if you want to do that... it's way better ammunition.

Is pedophilia perfectly acceptable in the church, so long as it is not acted upon?

Apparently the church in your universe is not the same one the rest of us see.

siiigggh

I was just making a passing accusation with no basis but my own assumptions and I don't care enough to have a prolonged debate with you. But here are some things I dug up in a google search
quote:

April 16, 2008
BOSTON, April 16 (UPI) -- Pope Benedict XVI's assertion he is "deeply ashamed" of sexual abuse by U.S. Catholic priests is too little too late, some victims say.

"These words don't mean anything," said David Carney, a Dedham, Mass., native who said a priest abused him when he was 15. "If you want to fix a problem, do something about it."

Vatican official says pope will fix liturgical abuses firmly, gently

By John Thavis
Catholic News Service

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Vatican's top liturgy official said he expects Pope Benedict XVI to move against liturgical abuse with firm teaching and a gentle manner, recognizing that such mistakes often reflect ignorance, not ill will.
http://www.catholicnews.com/data/st...cns/0600806.htm

quote:

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops commissioned a comprehensive study that found that four percent of all priests who had served in the U.S. from 1950 to 2002 faced some sort of sexual accusation.[3][4]

Continued allegations

While the church in the United States claims to have addressed the issue, others maintain the only change is the church has hardened its defences while allowing abuse to continue. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops convened a meeting in Dallas on June 12, 2002 to address the sex abuse scandal. However a Dallas Morning News article revealed nearly two-thirds of the bishops attending had themselves at one point covered for sexually abusive priests.[90]

In my few minutes of "research" it doesn't appear the Pope or the clergy is doing much of anything to directly address the problem. Short of condemning the acts and transferring suspected Priest abusers to other churches...

But you're right, I'm sure this wide problem in 2001-2002 is all fixed now because the Pope spoke out against them and promised to "fix" it firmly, gently.

The sooner you accept gays as the new social/cultural equality movement, the sooner you can stop being a bigot, and the sooner this fucked up planet can start cleaning out poisonous filth like this post you just made.
