Circuit City is going out of business

Circuit City gives liquidation sales date
January 16th, 2009, 3:10 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Hang Nguyen, retail reporter
Circuit City, which announced Friday that it’s going out of business, listed the following info on its Web site:
Liquidators will start arriving in our 567 stores across the U.S. over the weekend, and closing sales will start as early as Sat., Jan. 17. Closing sales will run as long as it takes to sell existing inventory, but are expected to wrap up by the end of March. When the liquidation sales are completed, the stores will be closed.
There will be clearance pricing, but specific discounts are not being announced. All sale prices are at the discretion of the liquidator. Prices are non-negotiable and all adjustments must be approved by the liquidator’s on-site managers.
Customers holding Circuit City gift cards may redeem them at full value at our stores during the liquidation sales. Once the stores are closed and the company is out of business, the gift cards will have no value.
Circuit City Advantage Protection Plans (extended warranties) have been backed by third-party independent companies for more than 15 years and as a result, are not impacted by Circuit City’s closing.
Customers can return products they purchased prior to Jan. 16 for a 14-day period for exchange or refunds. All other terms of return policy are in force. When closing sales begin on or around Jan. 17, all sales will be final.
The Virginia-based company, founded in 1949, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November, hoping to be able to reorganize the business.
Circuit City completed the closure of 155 underperforming U.S. stores in November and December, including a location in Foothill Ranch.
The chain currently has at least 11 stores in O.C. For a list of Orange County stores, CLICK HERE.

This is not really news, unfortunately. They've been on a downward spiral for years and years.

is anyone here as excited about the retail sector crash as i am? mass consumption, mass wasting, pollution, urban sprawl, materialism, debt spending, seasonal obsolescence and need manufacturing are all taking a nosedive and people are finally learning to enjoy the simple things and be happy with what they have. it truly is a blessing in disguise...

retail sector jobs add no value to society... the people in these positions don't grow personally or professionally or offer any special skill set to society, they just function to exist. those people are better off looking for work with meaning and value or with the free time to examine what it is in life they're after. stocking shelves and ringing up purchases for the sake of earning a marginal paycheck is a form of subsistence living. i would know. but whether or not people are able to live richer, happier, more fulfilling lives comes secondary to the fact that we are no longer on an upward trending path to destroying the environment and wasting limited resources for the sake of growing an unsustainable economy that really only benefits the banks and mncs.

If you wanna get that new TV that you can't quite afford, an Xbox game, or just some cables/wires, go to Circuit City ASAP. They have liquidators in their stores beginning today and they're making deals with prospective buyers. Do it!

Agreed.
...But what do you suggest as an alternative to the quick fix of Retail Therapy?

Another brilliant scribe from our resident libtard R!ch, who I believe by the way, is unemployed himself with his mouth puckered ready to suck on the teet of Obama. Where do I begin to surgically dissect and translate his utter, obscene nonsense? Ahhh fuck it. No hope for him. It's almost Saturday nite...

well so i tried for myself and see whats the fuss all about. the whole store was 10% off on all the items. and 30% off on other retail items as well.

LCD Tv's got 10% as well.

but i would suggest do a cross match on other stores and online, as per said earlier liquidators will still mark up as much as they can before getting rid of all their inventory.

it looks like you saved couple bux here in there but you can still get away on good deals on other stores or online.

another tip might be wait couple more weeks, go back to CC, talk to any liquidators in the store. (usually not a CC red uniform guy or gal) then ask for "whats a good deal on a ______ Item?" or better yet "Hook a brotha up!"

in that sense got my self a HDMI DVD player for $40 freakin bux hehe
