Ok, so Lost is coming back in something like 8 days!!!!!! the season premier is the 21st I believe and if you're anything like me then it seems like an eternity. I started this thread so we can kick around theories, opinions, and talk about how much of a weenie jack is.

Anyway, I cant wait 9 days!!! i can only wait 4815162342 seconds

I was wondering what ya'll thought on where the island is. a friend of mine says the question isnt where the island is, but when.

and we still dont really know what the smoke is

or why they have to go back (obv)

or whats really hood wit ben linus

and why john locke was in a casket.

and what i REALLY want to see is charles whitmore pull some straight G shit and send the goons out to ride.

and all that goodneess. I think im going to rewatch season 4 over the next week!!! aAAHAHAHAHAHA



btw I'm a HUGE heroes fan, but Lost shits on Heroes' chest. and it smells really bad

Here's my theory....



The island is some sort of purgatory. Everyone's dead. They all died in the plane crash. The events that happen on the island makes sure that people redeem themselves for the lives they lived earlier and the bad things they may have done.

Linus and Mr. Whiddmore are some kind of watchdogs of the good or bad of this island. Linus is heaven, and he's trying to make sure people do good and go to heaven. It's like a chess match. That's why so much emphasis is put on board games, like John playing backgammon, Hurley playing chess, and another scene with checkers I can't remember. For some reason, these scenes aren't really that important but Abrams puts them in there and gives them good amount of time (Hurley's "checkmate" scene in the Season 4 finale).

Linus and Whiddmore are playing chess of sorts, using their good/bad guys to influence the other ones. Somehow, I think Linus made sure Whiddmore (hell) couldn't influence the island anymore. All the guys you didn't like in Season 1 (Jin, Sawyer, etc.) all turn into likeable people by Season 4.

I view it as a chess game because when Whiddmore kills Alexandra, Linus says "he broke the rules". Now, with all this stuff involved, it's hard to understand how they're dead. I'm guessing they're all dead but somehow able to change things in the real world. That's why they can interact with real people, but still get visits from Charlie, Claire, Mr. Eko, etc...

I think everything was disturbed through Jack's choices of action. He threw something off that made them hurl into another time and place. For Jack to JUST read Locke's obituary years later, I'm not sure what that means but that's gotta be something big. To make things right again, they ALLLLL have to go back together. I think this means they all have to die again, to make everything right.





Eeeek, it's a long shot, but it's a pretty interesting theory. I just watched ALL of Lost Season 4 in the past 3 days for the first time, so everything's fresh in my mind.

I subscribed to the Purgatory theory early on too, unitl I read an interview with the creators. They were asked point blank about that, and they answered very directly that its not the case. No idea what is really going on.

i actaully subscribed to the LOST thread in the COR (one of very very few threads i actually read thru since i totally LOVE this series, as crazier as it gets EVERY season)

yeah I thought the Purgatory concept was interesting as well. But I really don't want tthe series to end with them all being dead though. eheh call me an idealist. That being said, I really want them all to be able to go back in time and actually change some of the fates of the crash survivors (Jeremy Bentham/John Locke, Jin - whoses fate is still uncertain, etc.)

I still need to watch part of Season 3 (which i have on DVD) and i have to get Season 4 so i can rewatch some parts. its been way too long!!!


i cant wait till Season 5 starts (w00t).

sometimes i read darkufo forums about speculations and theories. it certainly keeps me busy, hehe

and i agree with you Ravi on Heroes. I still love the show but its started to suck esp the end of Season 3. and i do not like the premise of Season 4, ugh. damn Nathan...

I wasn't very happy or upset with last season's finale. I still don't really like the aspect of time travel, or the fact that the island disappeared, but whenever I was skeptical before the show's never let me down.

I just can't wait to see more of Sayid running around assassinating people. I'm more interested in the whole off the island power struggle now then anything on the island at the moment.

Going to start watching through last season this week so I'm primed and ready

you are on the right track with when, not where for the island

it is NOT purgatory (or any sort of afterlife), the creators stated that up front in a very early interview

I hate to do this but im a philosophy major...your argument is only sound if the pizza in the dumpster was fresh due to the fact that Heroes season one is still good and very watchable. Yet still, it may be dumpster heroes and yet it is still from a good restaurant and highly delectable...so yes...dumpster pizza all day everyday

No, with that analogy I was referring to Heroes as a whole, not just Season 1. The crappiness of the past 2 seasons overshadows the good of the first, thereby making it as a whole not as good as Lost as a whole.
