Tip for Virus TI + Cubase 4.52 users

Instead of doing realtime exports when bouncing Virus parts, use the new routing features of Cubase and record directly to an audio track. First you must send the virus audio to a group channel. Then create an audio track. Use the group as input on the audio track, then just record like you would any analog source.

You can now easily redo takes when the Virus decides to fuck up by going out of sync, crackling or getting stuck notes. Of course this has been possible for a long time by using the analog outs, but with the fairly recent changes to routing in Cubase you can do it using USB audio too.

This is a great feature. An alternative, and less cluttered, way to do this would be to create a mono/stereo output buss in VST Connections. Do not assign it to any outputs, leave it as "Not Connected". Now, on your audio track, the output buss you just created should show up as an available input. Voila! No extra group tracks cluttering your mix space and you can bounce down multiple tracks at one time for however many busses you create.

in reaper all you have to do is right click -> render to new track.

such a basic feature... yet few DAWs have it heh.

Sonar has an equivalent: Bounce to Track - works perfectly with the TI and doesn't require any funky routing schemes.

though reaper does it offline and i couldn't find a way to do it in realtime. so for rendering the virus it's not usable.
