Talking Who here likes progressive?

I used to hate this genre because I thought it was boring...i'm not talking about progressive trance...i'm talking about straight progressive. For some reason it's grown on me alot ever since I decided to open up to it a few months ago. I never would have thought I would start liking it like I do now.

So now I'm all about Sasha and John Digweed!!!!

Anybody got any favorite progressive tracks?

Two of mine are:

Slide vs. Healy- Wicked Behaviour
Coco de Silva- At Night

are you knowledgable in progressive, cause i want to know what the real difference betweeen: trance ~ pro.trance ~ progressive...i've heard from many sources and most of the time their opinions/judgements about these genres seem to contradict each other

Sasha and digweed spin progressive Trance. Progressive has a distinctive sound and when it's got synths it's prog trance, when it's 2 step and sound driven it's prog house. They are very close.

hmm i always thought progressive was a term you added onto something. like progressive rock, house, trance. people often who use the word "progressive" to name a music style [trance, ambient, ect] were really just trying to say in another way progressive trance/house.

digweed plays pure progressive house sets....even tribal at times....other than heaven scent...no trance comes out of that guy...sasha is more progressive with trance/epic house undertones(xpander)

i think a perfect example of a progressive trance set is sandra collins tranceport........it's no ferry/tiesto/avb trance...and it not diggers style either....right im between

progreesive isnt a type of music...it's a type of set really since a progressive set could include trance, house and techno

make sense????

actually exergo progressive is a type of music...just goto any record store website and it will have a genre listed next to the song...

i.e. Spoiled and Zigo- More and More (Vocal)= Progressive House
DJ Tiesto vs. Junkie XL- Obsession= Progressive Trance
Homemade- Philosophy (Darren Christian Mix)= Progressive

A good way to describe a true progressive track is that it has a more monotone feel to it. It usually takes place in a 128 BPM area so it's somewhat slow. It has one repetitive synth line and no real large breakdowns like a progressive trance or house song may have.
The mood of a progressive track is generally mellow due to it's low BPM but there are still many tracks that can be hard such as:

Coco de Silva- At Night
Chimera- In Deep

You can preview a wide variety of progressive tracks at www.dancegrooves.com
or
www.satelliterecords.com in the listening booth.

Whoo! I'm tired of writing...but I hope that clears up that progressive is a genre of it's own.
