ok, so im in cubase studio 4, and im trying to automate something, the read function is on and the automation has been drawn in, but when i then play it the automation doesnt happen, any ideas??

did you seelct the right controller? try to do it with the write button and slide it in, see if the same controller lane is addressed

Yeh, I've noticed a glitch in CS4 that I've been running into in my last project. I have an automation on my delay vst, changing the delay period. It might or might not listen to this automation, seemingly randomly. I've been trying to find patterns as to when or why it happens, but no dice. That's the only instance I've ever seen this behavior though...

very strange indeed, for me it has only happened when i tried to automate one of cubase's own plug ins. the rest have been fine
