A different kind of ID contest [a less time-consuming game]

A DIFFERENT KIND OF ID CONTEST:

The person running the current game posts a fictional “set list” of eleven tracks. The aim of the game is to guess how each track is associated with the one preceding it:

1. Detroit Grand Puhbahs – Ride (Original Mix)
2. Joris Voorn – MPX_309 (Original Mix)

Both artists have been remixed by Deetron.

1. Quartet – Curtomised (Original Mix)
2. Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You (Original Mix)

Quartet is Delphine Quême, cousin of Alan Quême, one of the members of Stardust.

1. Josh Wink – Higher State Of Conciousness (Original Mix)
2. Hardfloor – Lost In The Silverbox (Original Mix)

Both tracks were made primarily using the TB-303 synthesiser.

1. Loleatta Holloway – Love Sensation
2. Luke Vibert – I Love Acid

Both tracks contain the word “love”.

So the associations can be fairly simple, or more complex, but should not be too ridiculous (i.e “both artists played in Ibiza in October 2005” or “both artists have mothers named Mary”). Please no associations where the songs are in the same key, have the same length or are the same BPM.

My original idea was to do this as a mix, but then I realised it would be far too hard to record a good set with proper associations between artists. However, keeping that in mind, I think it would be good if each group of eleven tracks has a title and a coherent theme (i.e most of the tracks should be from a similar genre). It would also be good if the themes are common enough so that most people on here can play (i.e modern techno or trance circa 2000 rather than ‘80s synth pop) Also, remember that discogs makes it easy for people to research – your answers should be hard enough that they’re not immediately apparent via researching on discogs, but easy enough that they could still be found elsewhere.

If people running future contests desire, they may have bonus answers when there are multiple similarities between answers, delineated via 1a, 1b etc, however I ask that the lists be kept to eleven tracks only so as to keep things moving and give more people a chance to win and keep the game rolling.

Format should be as follows:

[ID contest number] [“Mix” Title] [Theme]

1. Track 1
2. Track 2

Questions should be submitted via private message. The first person to answer all ten associations correctly is the winner and gets to do the next mock tracklist.

Partial answers should not be sent, or quizzes with only a few answers correct: please wait until you feel you have all answers correct before submitting. It may be that there are answers which are correct but are not the one that the quiz-hoster was looking for. In this case only the correct answer originally in mind should be allowed and the person who submitted the "unintentional answer" should be informed so that they can fix their submission.

Please try keep this thread relatively clutter free and only use it for posting the tracklists themselves or the name of the person who has won if you are running the current quiz. Obviously, since this is my game, I’ll go first. The genre will be techno – tracklist up in a few hours.

That was a lot harder than I thought. Meant to stick to Germanic/Berlin style techno but ended up going haywire. The associations between artists tend to lead off strange directions.

Association Game #001 – “Inaugural” – Techno

01. DOP – Allo Boom Boom (Original Mix)
02. Dettman & Klock – Dawning (Original Mix)
03. Rejected – Cliché (Original Mix)
04. Hardcell – Hardcell (Original Mix)
05. Braincell – Peterson Session (Original Mix)
06. Hardfloor – Beavis At Bat (Original Mix)
07. Robert Armani – Fluk Dat (Original Mix)
08. Jeff Mills – Systematic (Original Mix)
09. Der Dritte Raum – Flummi (Original Mix)
10. Apaptor – Pay The Ketchup (Original Mix)
11. Dave DK – Crush The Bits (Original Mix)

There is a bonus part to association #5 (between Braincell and Hardfloor), making 12 answers to be submitted altogether.

First person to submit all twelve answers to me gets to host the next contest.
