Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)...
Well, Platinum Dunes, which is Michael Bay and co's production company, and responsible for a good percentage of the unnecessary and mediocre classic horror remakes we've been subjected to in recent years, is at it again with an upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Old news by now, but certainly slipped past my radar, and didn't see this posted elsewhere.
Making me even less optimistic is the fact that Robert Englund isn't coming back for this. So really, it's Freddy without 'Freddy.'

Samuel Bayer was contacted to direct. The Risky Business Blog hosted by The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Robert Englund will not reprise the role of Freddy. |

By the way these clods are also working on a remake of The Birds, also scheduled for a 2010 release.
