wine?

Trying some Yellow Tail (made in Australia) Cabernet Sauvignon tonite, and its pretty good tasting and goes down easy peasey for the price. Hasn't hit met yet though.

Gonna heat me a Chicken Fajita CPK pizza (frozen) later to test out the sipping and then eating qualities.

Any wine fans here? Or is it too paisley for you guys

Yep drinking a cheap Pino Grigio right now. The draw backs of not having a job.
My fiance's mom has fallen in love with an Argentinian Malbec called Layer Cake that I've been drinking a lot of lately. Pretty good stuff. About $14 at trader Joe's.
My all time fav is a Nappa winery called Luna. Great Pino Grigio and an awesome Sangiovese. About $20 a bottle but worth much more. That one I would definitly reccomend trying.

whats the Pino Grigio like? Yellow Tail had one. Is the Malbec good with food, cause im a drink wine before eating sushi, CPK pizza, or korean bbq person. This Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon is shaping up nicely as I get through the 2nd glass.

Try the Yellow Tail Pino Grigio. For a cheaper winery their stuff is pretty good. I even like their chard and I don't really like chard. I'm more of a red wine drinker but I love pino grigio. It's a lighter white generally with a little higher alc content. Be good with CPK probably. Good with pastas for sure. I generally like wine after dinner tho. Not much for pairing although I will do it sometimes.

I'm addicted to the Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand right now and the grocery stores are all stocking them - Nobilo, Kim Crawford, Matua valley, Oyster Bay, The Crossings, etc.

Not a big fan of normal wine, prefer the sweeter, desert wines.
Currently drinking Takara plum wine, $5 a bottle yet served at a number of restaurants that serve plum wine, for $5 a glass haha. Really sweet though so that may turn some of you away.

Favorite type of wine is icewine, particularly Jackson Triggs Vidal Icewine. A bit expensive at $20 for a small bottle, but it tastes amazing.

Most Malbec is especially great paired with steak (im vegetarian but i had to try it with a bite of beef lol). I really enjoy Tapiz Malbec and Cab. its 16$ sometimes ive seen it for 12$

i also love spanish wine. i def recommend trying a spanish blend especially for their high bang for their buck. You can find some great bottles for 5-10$. They are a bit trickier to find. The best places I know for those is Bevmo and La Espanola (harbor city).

also if you're in the mood for something sparkling.. try a cava instead of champagne. They come from the catalunya region of spain and are excellent paired with almost anything! at least thats how i feel about it haha. The frexienet (sp?) is only about $8 and i love it!

One rule i try to follow for myself is try to buy something i haven't tried b4, along with something I love.

Love wine. Went wine tasting in Tuscany & Chianti while in Italy this summer. A really good and affordable wine is the Coppola Cab/Merlot Black label. Cant go wrong with the Yellow Tail either

Spanish wines are great as well as most South American wines. So for those who haven't tried them, hit up you're local BevMo. You don't have to spend more than $10-$15 for some really good stuff.

Anyone else been to Nappa? Went about 5 years back. Did the wine train which has a tasting car, but you don't end up tasting a whole lot on the wine train. It's more like doing a bunch of really good wine shots Good times. I want to get out there again and just go winery to winery, but it's a bit of a trip to get there for me. Oh...and speaking of Nappa...if you haven't scene the movie "Bottle Shock," you should check it out.

And most of these can be found at any BevMo store as well as the smaller wine shops anywhere in Cali. That's where I bought most of them.
