Sounds pretty neat? Except for the "Pro" part. Just like every other company, Novation is moving to nickle-and-dime tactics.
The upgrade to Automap 3 PRO is about $27 US Dollars. And here are the advantages of paying the extra dough:
quote:
Automap 3 PRO will be available to purchase and has a number of benefits over STANDARD.
Multiple device support - Automap 3 Pro supports multiple devices, so numerous Novation controllers can be used side by side.
Keystroke Assignments - Automap 3 Pro can assign almost any computer keyboard shortcuts to hardware controls. For example arrow key functions can now be assigned to hardware controls, allowing you to flick between tracks using buttons on your SL/Nocturn. You could also zoom in and out, open windows or create and jump to markers in your DAW.
Drag and Drop - With 'PRO' you can drag and drop control mappings and control map groups in the GUI, allowing you to re-assign knobs, faders and buttons by simply grabbing them with the mouse and dropping them on the new controller.
XY Pad Control - Fully Auto-mappable XY Pad control, expression pedal, control pedal and drum pad control. The Automap server can now assign parameters to all these controllers using the ultra-quick learn facility. (Pedal/pad control not supported by SL Compact)
Autoview Mode - Optional Autoview mode means that the GUI only becomes visible when a controller is touched, then it disappears again allowing you to get back to your DAW.
Is it just me or do those features seem like they should just be available in the standard version. Especially the last feature.
Oooo! What a feature improvement, AUTO HIDE WHEN YOU'RE NOT USING THE CONTROLER!
Give me a break!
Of course what am I complaining for--- I'll end up shelling out the dough.
Peace and love,
Adam Wrzeski
Edit: Wow the exchange rate isn't what it used to be lol.
Woot, thanks for the heads up, been really looking forward to trying this out
EDIT: yeah, after trying it out, so many of the included "features" should just be free. This is just the Automap we paid a premium for in the first place. Talk about double jeopardy

Lol, agreed.
I bought it, and it's pretty darn handy. The auto hide is absolutely the best feature of this new version IMO. I find it hilarious that I'm paying $30 dollars for it... but I did. Lol.
Anyway, I love the RemoteSL and I love the new Automap.
I've been an owner of the Remote SL61 since its creation a few years back. I am completely happy with the purchase because after a number of years of owning this, there is still nothing better on the market that I would need or desire to upgrade to.
That being said, I'm happy novation takes the steps to keep bettering this product opposed to making new ones all the time. After all the free updates along the way, I don't see it a big deal to finally have to pay for one, and hopefully that'll be indication of seeing lots more improvements to this controller along the way.
The only things i still feel that are missing are properly mapping the buttons....frustrating.

Would any of you guys give me any feedback on issues you have had with this controller mapping and controlling vsts like sylenth1, zeta, gladiator 2, nexus2, vanguard, rapture, albino, or blue? how bout using it with sonar? I have loved the idea of this controller but heard mixed reviews of it being buggy.
