voyager + logic pro midi question

hey guys, so i got a used voyager recently and i am loving the sounds and what it can do.

My only main problem is, how in the hell does the midi work on this thing? I bought a motu fastlane-usb (midi interface) and i have read the manual but cannot seem to get the voyager to playback midi notes.

it records and shows which keys i play in logic it just wont play back or let me adjust the midi notes i have recorded? please help before i shoot myself from frustration!!!# thanks

keep reading the manuals until you succeed or quit.

alternatively... give people a bit more detail about what exactly you are doing (from the start). the question you are asking is like "how do i math?"

really lol, thought i was lightly detailed hah..

well basically i got the voyager hooked up to the fastlane midi interface.
and i got that so i can be able to write in notes in logics piano roll, so it will trigger the voyager. for ex on a soft synth you write in the notes and when you hit play the synth would play the sequence you have inputed. now i am trying to achieve that same concept on the voyager.. make sense now?

No, it's still not clear. Let's start with the basics.

1) is the MIDI OUT of your Voyager connected to the MIDI IN of your MIDI interface AND the MIDI IN of the Voyager connected to the MIDI OUT of the interface? You need to have both connected in order to have 2-way communication between your DAW and the Voyager.

2) Is Logic recognizing your MIDI interface (and all inputs/outputs)?

3) I'm not familiar with Logic, but I assume that like most DAWs, each MIDI track has an assignable MIDI input and MIDI output. Are both the inputs and output assigned to the same inputs/outputs on your interface that the Voyager is connected to?

Oops - forgot to add #4:

4) What MIDI channel is your Voyager assigned to? Is your MIDI track's output assigned to the same MIDI channel as the Voyager? The MIDI track's input should be assigned the same channel as well, or assigned to "Omni" (i.e., will receive any MIDI channels) if that is an option in Logic.

1. It is now hehe (pictures to verify)

2. im not sure if i fully understand the question, but when i hit keys on the moog, it tells me which notes im playing in logic, and also when i record the audio the piano roll opens up and shows the midi being inputed, but once i stop recording that midi is gone! and if i draw it in, it will not play back!!

3. again im not sure about this one either ??

4. not sure again.. i am a total noob with settings and hardware (first hardware synth)

OK, well at least you're receiving MIDI from the Voyager - that's good. I have no idea as to why Logic doesn't store the MIDI and play it back, but that sounds like a Logic issue and not a hardware issue. So, yeah, check your manual and hopefully a fellow Logic user will come along to help you out.

Also, you could try to reassign an existing soft synth MIDI track (i.e., already has notes registered) to the Voyager. In other words, open one of your existing projects, choose one of the soft synths, and reassign its MIDI output so that it send the data to the Voyager, rather than the soft synth.

make sure you are on the right channel number when using your midi. In logic that is, choose the correct port. Also, make sure when you create a new track to adjust the output number in logic.
