Sorry mate, no experience with 2408.

I've passed on the mod(for now), but i've invested in a Sparrow A/D converter and the BLA Microclock. Read some good things about these

Hi Mate, I've seen it done before on a 2408 and it does make a difference. With general mods by BLA, some people got disapointed in the past because the difference was not a huge as they expected, but then that's why it's called a mod and not getting a better unit. However everyone I know who actually got the 2408 mod said there was a considerable difference in AD conversion.

The micro clock is good but I don't really understand the sparrow and the microclock would be a substitute for the 2408 mod? The 2408 mod improves the ad conversion within the unit itself and has waaay more I/O than the sparrow and the micro clock isn't going to make your 2408 by itself, sound that much better that it would warrant the cost.

The Mclock will improve your whole system because of your D8B etc, but if you're looking to improve the quality of your conversion and lcarity of sound then you're better off doing the BLA mod for the 2408.

What I'm trying to get at is the kit you've just bought and the BLA 2408 mods will have different impacts as they effectively have different uses (if you get what I mean).

I bought the Sparrow to see if it betters the converters on the d8b, if there is no change i will return it

I'm still debating the mod because i run 32 channels of lightpipe and have the 8xAnalogue incase i need em so it's not really essential but would be nice

Ahhh, got it - I'd forgotten that you were lightpipe. The mod wouldn't make that much of huge difference then.

The sparrow should have better conversion than the d8b but it would be great if you could do a mini review when you get the chance? I', thinking about one myself but would prefer to hear from someone I trust rather than just reading about it online.
