ok theres gotta be more to mixing then beatmatching sure its a essential skill and takes alot of refinement and in trance (especially trance) its so standard i mean intro/breakdown/outro, its so cool to get like a third source goin or something or like i have this for an angel bootleg (angel in motion) and the original and i chucked it on... (angel in motion) and beatmatched it all, cued up the original at the chorus and threw it in about a second after the bootleg was in and it has like this awsome echoey effect not like galloping beats or anything (because its on the chorus no bass drum) but just stuff like that what do you guys do to make your mixes intresting from a trance perspective... im developing a intrest more and more in techno now... as some of the stuff those guys can do is insane! (carl cox! richie hawtin, stacey pullen!) get like 3/4 sources and just rip it up i think trance is a pretty boring genre to mix on the whole... but its still cool anyway what do you guys do? and how do you set up your eqs

Yeah, techno is much more of a mixer's music. With trance, unfortunately, there's not a hell of a lot you can do, unlike techno where you can multiple tracks running at once, cutting back and fourth between them.

I think a good trance set is more about track placement and phrase matching. Making sure you throw the tune in the right time so the energy nets stops. Some people think you need to give the crowd a break, but i'm the opposite. If the crowd wants a break, they can sit down, and they will anyway. The trick is to keep the intensity right up there the whole time.

Also, considering you're into techno as well, try lapping some techno over the top. I play the harder type of trance so i don't know if this will work well with normal and prog trance, but layering some techno over the top, just the mid and trebel can sound soo sweet with the right tracks. A lot easier to do if you have three decks/cdj's. Effects and samplers are fun to play with for a bit but my feeling is that a good song shouldn't need effects to make it sound good. they just get annoying after a while
