Ahhh I'm so excited i recently just bought a Canon Rebel XSi kit and a 75-300mm lens. It's my first SLR camera and as soon as i touched it I fell in love and jizzed my pants. I've already read the manual twice and know the ins and outs of this beauty. My buddy asked me if i wanted to take pictures at his wedding. This is a huge responsibility and a great honor for him to trust my skills with his wedding memories. He asked how much and i said I'd do it for free just for the experience but tips are appreciated. I will though charge for prints, obviously.
The weddings not till May but i need to study up on it and practice.
Definitely going to have to write up a letter of agreement stating my buddy understands I'm not a professional wedding photographer, and i cannot guarantee to provide any specific photo, and I'm not responsible for any loss of coverage for any reason.
Anyone ever shoot a wedding before?

I've done a couple. It's fun and high pressure. I just bought a Alien Bee strobe for birthday event I'll be shooting in NYC. Each one I do I try to expand my skills and equipment.

I took quite a few shots at my gf's bro's wedding last year.
Chris, go and buy a pro flash. Don't even think about using the onboard flash, it will make all the pics look weird and washed out.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting the Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash and a battery pack grip. I might just save up for the 580EX.

Nothing wrong with the 430EX II, it's quite a decent flash. Battery grips are awesome too, bot of our cams have one.
Does the 75-300mm lens have IS?
Edit: Nvm, I'm thinking of the 70-300mm.

be prepared to rage at the people you're taking pics of.
Since it's your friend obviously you won't but in the future get ready to feel out of place...
at least that;s how camera men seem to me at such events, always lugging around that equipment and having to gather everybody for photos and what not..

Levels is...decent...damn better than a lot of the shite dominating the charts at the moment. It sounds absolutely nothing like...a billion and one similar tracks in this big-room style. I always had a soft spot.

Nah, it's a cheapo. It came with a big kit the lens only cost like $150 bucks.
I'm going to be getting the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM Ballin!
