Absolutely awesome release, one of those albums that marked the birth of IDM. These British guys (The Black Dog, Steve Pickton, Nurmad Jusat, B12, Kirk DeGiorgio and even AFX to some degree) really refreshed the Detroit techno sound in early 90's by breaking the rhythm, adding the acid and creating colder, spookier atmospheres. Ed Handley's Balil is my favourite moniker of all Black Dog crew from that time and his two tracks are IMO highlights of this compilation. I'd recommend his equally awesome Parasight EP which came out the same year and resembles Bytes a lot.
One compilation which is even better IMO is The Philosophy Of Sound And Machine from 1992. It perfectly captures that timeless early British take on Detroit techno.
