everyone here would probably say that for a similar price you should go for the sony 7506's, and i'd have to agree.

I had the HP1000s and they were really big, clunky and heavy, and they snapped like where the extender part is on either side...

I bought the 7506s after that.... they are way lighter and more comfortable... and the sound quality is probably better as well.

a lot of headphones in that price range seem to snap at those parts.. hmm although i was looking for more info, it seems like the consensus is to try the 7506's lol. To be honest i forgot all about those...

i've used a lot of headphones in that range and i can personally attest to the 7506's, comfy, lightweight, sounds excellent. v700s also sound nice and i've never seen them crack personally, but they're a lot more expensive.

personally i have a pair of technics RPDH-1200's and i hate them; they're heavy, too tight-fitting, too much mids, and they seriously hurt my ears after extended use (i have big ears though).

I've become more and more found of these, so much so that i find myself reaching for them before i reach for my HD25's.

I think their mid range is a little brighter which makes it easier to match the kicks. Although, for production I'm not sure if i'd go for them.

I do love the sound from the 25's though still.
Would LOVE to get my hands on some 7506 just to hear what they sound like.

When the recessions over i'll invest! lol

the most enlightening moment i had with the 7506s was when a few friends and i were spinning at my house one night. i was using my technics headphones while they used their 7506s. finally i got tired of switching headphones all night so i tried using theirs, and the difference between the sound of the two was so immense, it was like night and day. it sounded so much more crisp and natural.

then again i was also on mushrooms that night sooo... yeah.
