[Techno] Greg Nicot - Diabolus (125bpm)

Hello,

After my last couple of tracks having more of a melodic element to them, this time I've gone for something darker, I suppose I would call this techno.

Not fully finished but very close.

Honest opinions and feedback welcome as always

Cheers

Greg

Mostly a percussive joint.

I'm liking this one, a lot. The mix just pulls me into it - a gift you and Subtle seem to share.

Love the panning noise/sawtooth.

Great tension building.

I'm wondering if the whistle sound could be a little more recessed in the mix - I like it as it does add to the mix but it could give it a bit of spacial, psycho-acoustic mystery if it were just a little more quiet.

Other than that - to be taken with a grain of salt - I'm liking this tune. The attention to detail is impeccable, so far as the mix is concerned. I love the fullness of it, from the bass to the high-end, and everything is crisp and clear.

Great job. Looking forward to the finished version.

Nice track, i like the bit that comes in around 2 mins. however those lead synths are a bit too loud in the mix, also i think theres a bit too much sub in your bass, but overall its nice

Nice percs here mate. Theres a touch too much sub freq's in the bass as mentioned. Like the weird synth nice and twisted, would definately screw ur mind in a club lol, in fact it sounds well good mate as I keep listening.

Nicely kicks back after the break- driving. Cool effects, Look 4ward to hearing the finished track. Great work dude.

winner!!

(saved this on disc if you don't mind)

that weird synth really blew my mind

maybe a more tribalish beat after the breakdown (4:05), but that's just personal preference

this will get labeled in a sec

Oooh, im liking to hear that.

Listening.

Thats a deep bass you are introducing there.

Works well with the kick too.

The birdy effects arent my cup though.

Liking that repetetive swirling sound, great use of white noise halfway in the track.

More swirling sounds, that just adds to the track, they work very nicely.

Nice job overall, but id wish for more drums in the end of the track.

Thanks for all the replies lads. Glad to hear you all enjoy it.

I've made a few minor tweaks to the mix, hopefully corrected a few balance issues regarding levels etc.

I've updated the original link, by all means let me know if this revised version sounds closer to the mark.

Az, I'll PM ya mate in next couple of days about doin a remix

Cheers everyone

You've got quite a talent for putting together great builds, especially b/c you choose sounds that work really well together. A number of the sounds you've used are extremely unique--I'm impressed. The sub-bass does sound a little off to me: I'm not sure exactly what it is (would different notes work better?). The tune seems very wide and spacious to me so congrats on that. I like the hi-pass filter used during the breakdown/build.

Overall, the tune is a little too 'experimental' sounding for my tastes; but that's just a matter of personal preference. Although, as I listen a second time I like it more and more

Feel free to give me your thoughts on my latest here

Ok, I've updated the original link again now with what I hope will be the final version. Mainly tweaked the sub so its not quite so overpowering.

Nick, thanks for the feedback, I'll listen to yours along with quite a few others later tonight. Been meaning to before now but wanted to get this finished first.

Thanks

Greg
