Just want to preface this mix with a few things:
*I've been very frustrated with my mixing lately, I can't seem to
make any noticeable improvements and my mixes always sound lifeless
and imprecise, at least to my ears.
*This mix is very fast and loose, very little prep time was put into
it and although I knew generally what tracks I wanted to use, it all
came together pretty much on the spot.
*The flow is off in some places, there are some horrible sounding jump
transitions in terms of eqing, and some of the tracks are quite
misplaced which I'll blame on me not knowing some of these tracks
very well.
*That Ape Men track between Ghost Song and California Gold absolutely
killed the energy, both through my mixing and track selection.
Anyways, what I'm getting at is this is very last minute, it's definitely not perfect, and what I'm mainly looking for is constructive criticism. Anything involving mixing in general, midi controllers + Ableton, and things of that nature are things I think I could use some pointers on.
Sorry for all the self-degradation, I've just hit a standstill lately in terms of mixing and I'm trying to push myself a bit more. Enjoy if you so choose; I hope the track selection is at least somewhat interesting, haven't had much digging time lately and I've noticed the same labels keep popping up in all my mixes.
