Huh.. they call it "uplifting" nowadays. This is so wrong. The new uplifting sound is FUCKING annoying. It's more than disgusting! Why tha hell some of you and the DJs support the crappy stuff of Paul Miller, Nitrous Oxide & co. Just for example:
1. Paul Miller is a true explanation of working on the belt. He has new releases every damn week. And nothing new - same leads, same synths, same KICKs, same melody.. I believe the music is more than making an ableton track for 30 mins, send it to your label and release it.
Guys like those should being ignored by the fans & DJs, because they ruin trance music

yeah, most of your favourite artists fit into this category too, you just don't see that. It's the death of trance, and has been for nigh on 5 years now. There's good stuff around from some artists but it's nowhere near as easy to find as it used to be and the digital age is a bit to blame for this.

For this reason I don't undersand how anyone is still listening to trance. When I hear samples now, I just think "ya this track already came out years ago, except better"

edit: I just sampled a whole load of Paul Miller's stuff on beatport. There's no way that even he can tell the difference between all those identical tracks. Probably doesn't matter though, he just throws the next one on and goes with it.

For me uplifting trance is just a nice memory. It was painful to let it go, but I have now.

Totally agree with daphunky. Today it's like lame remakes of old movies.

Thank god I did let it go; I know have stuff like Orbital's Middle Of Nowhere (Know Where To Run ftw!), The Smiths, The Cure, Coldcut, Mr Bungle (air conditioned nightmare lol).

Orbital are melodically awesome.

I'm also slowly wading through all the crap finding some decent minimal/tech/electro stuff and building a collection of that.

So yeah, lead by example and try something new. You'll appreciate your classics more too!

I did the same, but don't have any problem with tracks which sound alike.
Don't e.g. Faithless, Chicane and Oceanlab tracks not sound the same to many people, or even trance in general?

You could say the same about other non EMD genres.

The trouble with stores like Beatport is many producers are forced to flood the place with new tracks just to get noticed. The quicker they add stuff to their discography, the higher their chances are of someone 'stumbling' upon them in the 'New Releases' section.

I've noticed at Juno that labels like Armada are CONSTANTLY re-releasing their tracks on CD single, which makes some sense if you want your label's output to have a permanent representation in New Releases.

edi - also, whenever these threads come up I just think about the TA (forgot who) who layered 3 different tracks - by 3 different producers and you end up with 3 of the same basic layouts.
