Just call it by it's fucking name, maybe?

If you want a coke, ask for a coke.

If you want a sprite, ask for a sprite.

Very complicated, admittedly.

I'm curious as to what references fall within the domain of 'other.'

Anwyay, I suppose it makes perfect sense to describe soft drinks as soda or pop in the general sense, but the fact that 'Coke' is used in the same way is somewhat bizarre.

Imagine what it's like stocking sodas at the local market.

'Hey, we need more Cokes!'

So what you're trying to say is... I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're trying to say.

About the sodas?

Yeah, it was pretty funny.

It's just laziness though. If you go to a bar and ask for a vodka lime and soda, you'd be well pissed off if you got a vodka lime and coke, or a vodka lime and sprite. I really don't see why these terms should be generalised.

Edit: That said, we do it here too though. To us, lemonade is sprite

I never drink anything but water and juice, but I do often call it 'coke' (even though I HATE it and would only drink Pepsi if I had my choice).

Thats another thing, I also rarely drink when I go out. I am drunk perhaps once or twice a year. At bars I drink water or pineapple juice.

I was out for almost 8 hours last night at a club, completely sober; my friends wondered how I do it and sometimes I wonder how I do it too...

Ideally, I would love to content myself with that, but I'm far too in love with soda's glorious carbonated burn, especially with meats.

Snapple just doesn't cut it when you're eating a steak.
