Standing on your fourth amendmant right = terrorism

Check points in violation of constitutionally protected rights. The accusation of being a "terrorist" for refusing to be searched with out probable cause or a search warrant is... interesting. Americans are expected to be balless and ignorant of their right by "border partrol" who're not even operating at the border [within a 100 miles of the border supposedly]. The guy was also threatened with some kind of mele weapon before he was "let go."

"Papers please!"

I wonder why you don't hear about any of this stuff in the media more?

Oh, and if you don't have a camera... things can get more... complicated.

You see what kind of baffoons we are dealing with? Our own Dept. of Homeland Security Secretary doesn't understand that crossing the border illegally is a crime! From her conversation with Larry King over the weekend:

quote:
KING: A lot of Democrats in Congress want to you investigate [Joe Arpaio]. They think he is over the line. He says he is just enforcing the law and the problem is the federal government.

NAPOLITANO: Well, you know, Sheriff Joe, he is being very political in that statement, because he knows that there aren’t enough law enforcement officers, courtrooms or jail cells in the world to do what he is saying.

What we have to do is target the real evil-doers in this business, the employers who consistently hire illegal labor, the human traffickers who are exploiting human misery.

And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se. It is civil. But anyway, going after those as well.

Reading the actual law might help her out:

8 USC Sec. 1325

(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts

Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

*facepalm*.... note to Napolitano... we don't toss people into jail for losing civil lawsuits. The penal code makes illegal immigration A CRIME.

That video just blew my mind. If that is the way the border patrol (police state) treat their own people it's looking bad, really fucking bad.

They even went as far as calling the guy a terrorist for simply stating his rights as an American citizen.

Pay closer attention to the context; She was talking about illegal workers not illegal border crossing. An alien can legally enter the US on a tourist visa, student visa, or under an exemption, and be an illegal worker. Illegal workers don't need to enter the country illegally. If an alien enters the country legally and stays longer than authorized or attains employment, the penalty is usually civil. The fact that illegal workers can enter the country legally is the reason she said, "crossing the border is not a crime per se," because it is not a crime per se. Her next three words, "it is civil," were a little sloppy. Nevertheless, crossing the border and failing to depart is a civil issue, not necessarily a criminal issue. Consequently, I understand her statement to mean that when they are dealing with an illegal worker crossing the border will invariably be a civil issue, and sometimes it will be a criminal issue.

200K says I am.

Anyway, my newest pet peeve is when quotes are taken out of context. This applies equally to republicans and democrats.

Well, it's kind of hard not to pay attention to the 'wankers' pulling you over at a check point no?
