Why didnt any of this generations big trance DJ's progress?

Last time round digweed sasha seaman etc etc etc - took trance as far as they could - then they progressed to new sounds - thus educating and showing their fanbase new stuff - enhancing dance music and this to me is the reason for their longevity...

Even the j00fs and chris lawrence's took it in a whole new direction with the psy..to great success..

The Armins and Tiestos of this world seem to be flogging something they got over a long time ago (this may just be a guess - but it kinda comes accross in their current sound) and have become stale and limp...

why havent they tried something new?

They don't have the skills and/or they don't dare to risk doing anything else (house maybe?) than what made them famous to begin with (trance).

They'd rather make money than innovate.

Armin plays what people wants to hear.

He even has a guy browsing the forums when ASOT is airing to check which tracks get talked about so he can play them again.

Tiesto i have an impression of is doing more of what he wants and likes.

They've progressed into the mainstream. Musical progression seldom follows that direction.

i don't know what you're talking about - what they play has definitely changed in some regard.
