Do you get much of a difference to the final effected sound over stereo in - stereo out? This is for aux sends btw

yes it can make a big difference. Phase distortion will be something you will have to watch out for and obviously, you loose all the stereo properties that make effects like reverb,delay and chorus really neat.

I'm still not sure wtf you're talking about, but most of the inputs from my Nl3 and Andromeda are mono. I put them through as Stereo tracks into cubase and use their SurroundPan plugin first in the chain to make the track stereo. Then I add FX and such to widen the audio field.
