Why would Markus play this tune in GDJB, why would anyone play this? The synth or whatever it is is out of key and sounds waaaay too amateurish. Or have I gone completely tone-deaf?

Just sounds like a poor mix to me. Really, I'm more appalled by the overproduction than that background synth.

I think its the heavy delay that is put on the lead that makes it sound very dissonant.
