R.E.N.O.I.S.E. - Dead Wishes - sounds like crap?

Why would Markus play this tune in GDJB, why would anyone play this? The synth or whatever it is is out of key and sounds waaaay too amateurish. Or have I gone completely tone-deaf?

Listen starting at 0:32

I kind of like that sound, actually, but I don't think it fits the track well at all.

Just sounds like a poor mix to me. Really, I'm more appalled by the overproduction than that background synth.

Ya it does sound out of key. I liked it before I started to notice that part and now it just bothers me too much to listen to it.

I dig it, so much that im going to hunt up the full mix.

I think its the heavy delay that is put on the lead that makes it sound very dissonant.

I have no idea what's up with that sound, but it really doesn't work. Decent track otherwise.
