What did your parents do on Christmas Island? My auntie is a psychiatric nurse and worked there for quite a while in the detention centre.

My grandfather drove the one locomotive on the island that ran between settlement and southpoint. My mother grew up on the island but she left after marrying my dad. Dad was a phosphate miner like most people who were on the island in the 60's.
