Just out of curiosity, I was wondering how many people on TA consider themselves as third culture kids (people who have been brought up with three cultures, typically people with both parents from different cultural backgrounds and were raised in a country different to the parents for example a japanese-american marrying an indian-canadian and raising their kid in australia).
My personal background is my mother is from Christmas Island Indian Ocean (Yes there's 2 christmas islands!) and my father is from Singapore. I was raised in Australia and became an adult during my 11 years in Japan.
So if you're a TCK and a TA, i'd love to hear about your background and your experience in your social life. Recently I've come back to Australia and have noticed that of my friends, the deepest friendships ones are ones with an immigrant background regardless of culture or heritage.
Also I'm interested to see if there's a co-relation between being TCK and liking trance music.

What did your parents do on Christmas Island? My auntie is a psychiatric nurse and worked there for quite a while in the detention centre.

My grandfather drove the one locomotive on the island that ran between settlement and southpoint. My mother grew up on the island but she left after marrying my dad. Dad was a phosphate miner like most people who were on the island in the 60's.
