I want to know if there is any kind of arpeggiator out there that basically has a sequencer that allows you to click buttons where you want to hear the note and then uses that pattern to play whatever it is you have on the piano roll (I use FL). If not, just some other effect/vst that has similar capabilities. The FL arpeggiator SUCKS.

if you want to get creative with apeggios then why not learn the notes in the scale you are working in and literally draw your arp pattern yourself in your midi piano roll. I never use arpeggiators since i learned a bit about theory. All they are doing is playing octaves and different degrees of the scale. Plus drawing yourself makes it more flexible.

The point of an arpeggiator is not having to do these things, but yeah drawing is more flexible in the long run.

Yep, i prefer this too. But you can however still switch notes around even if its an arp

Yea, I know music theory and all that stuff and I could definitely make arpeggios easily.

But that's why I don't even though the flexibility thing is true.

yeah i know but my friend does all his stuff with arps and I ask what he has done and he says "dunno man just clicked the arp thing" knows nothing of using the 2nds or 4ths. I suppose im open for critism here as if you see music as a creative thing you dont have to know anything you just write what sounds or fells good. So from an art point of view im wrong to point this stuff out. I just know when i started trying to create my own mid arps i found it more rewarding than using the arp button.

Its really good to use arpeggiators to compose with and find good melodies and such that sounds good in the mix.

And after you can draw the notes to be more flexible.

But most synths have arpeggiators, so cant u just use the one in the synth ?

Not at all, you probably just don't know how to use it correctly. I think its one of the cooler features in FL, in fact i love the entire piano roll in FL, only feature i see no problem with.

The FL piano roll is the best piano roll there is.

The piano roll is the one thing every other DAW gets wrong.
