i cant produce trance anymore... its like totally fucked... i sit there, i try to make some decent strings, and a nice melody... but its not there anymore... everything sounds either like a song ive made before, or some cheese-ass eurotrance song i dont remember the name of... what is wrong with me?!?
on the other side, hardhouse, i now can produce... never could before...so now i can make the hoover-iest trax ever, but none of the melodic trance ones.... not even tidy hardtrance style (signum - what ya got 4 me (stim dj´s rmx), just ONE example)
can anybody plz help me... what do i have to do... want to produce trance again... but i dont want to lose my new hoover-abilities...
if u know what i mean??
The way I see it, we don't create tunes... we just do things we hear inside us.
Once you start forcing yourself to do something you can't do (be it writer's block or lack of skills) it's all going straight to hell.
What I suggest is take a break. Don't do any music.
Listen to a lot of stuff. Different kinds, not just trance, and try to get influences...
Don't start doing it again until you FEEL you are ready.
Believe me, I've been there... I used to be a hardcore breaks creator, but all I kept getting out was trance... I stuffed it all for a while and now I'm doing both
It's frustrating, I know... but there's not really much you can do.

You ran out of Trance magic... don't worry, you'll get it back, but you can't rush it. On the other hand, looks like you got a load of Hardhouse magic in ya so if you fill like having too much why not let it out ?
I have kinda the same thing...I can't make anything trancy anymore, but now I can suddenly make bangin techno
well I don't care as I love the techno thing anyways
and I don't really try the trance thing anymore

don't force yourself to do something you can't just because you want to. you'll end up frustrated and discouraged and wanting to quit writing altogether. why not write whatever comes to you? take a step back, listen to other kinds of music for a while. then come back and listen to the newest stuff coming out. if that doesn't inspire you then it's time to take a break for a while. i took a year off at one point because the whole experience was awful. writing music became more of a chore than anything else. now it's therapeutic again! there's a lot more i can say about this but i won't right now...

easy mate. Can off loads of loops and tune/riffs so when you get the trance magic back, youve got a massive collection to use!!!!
nah seriously, i think everyone has shifting music abilities -> mine is in fits and starts
months of rubbish and in 3 hours -> 1 complete song
I believe that if you have a desire to produce something specific you will eventually do so, but as they others said, don't force it. Just make some other tracks for a while and relax
I've had a wish to produce something Cafe Del Mar sounding since I got my first cafe del mar cd, and guess what? My latest track was a track similar to cafe del mar
It has taken a long time but now I feel good about it. Don't worry ok? Just make some other kind of music you like while your subconsciousness start to kick in and start to make wonders to your trance music. It might sound stupid, but that's just how I feel about it anyway

The samething wtih me...So all I've been making lately is electro...The lil trance that I have made has been really hard sounding with no complex melody. something sounding very basic and dry...

thnx everbody... i now feel at peace...
i think one of the probs is, that i miss TA....
since im not online at home... but im getting online in like 2 weeks.
I've had this problem several times, but my experience is that when I kept trying I finally succeeded. I've stopped making music for one year but this only made it worse, and it took me a lot of time before things where going smoothly again.
Maybe you can keep trying to make trance. It will be frustrating for a while but I think you will finally succeed .

As other people already said don't worry there is nothing wrong with making different styles of music. I do it myself asswell. like Trance lounge electro and stuff.
Its good to keep trying to make trance but do not force it if its not there at the monent try something else. It will come back or you find out that you are even better in other styles thats also possible.
When I started making music I wanted to sound like Jean Michael jarre and Vangelis but I ended up making dance music. well thats achange I think. Maybe I have to make a hardtrance mix from one of Vangelis songs. Maybe worth a try.
