Power-hungry Moderators?
I'm puzzled. I ran into Swamper (whom I've met many times) at the Kool Haus on Friday night and learnt it was his birthday Saturday, so I took it upon myself to try and let as many TA's as possible know so they could wish the man a nice day. Now, I know the chill-out is probably the place for this (and I didn't realize there was a thread here for that), but I assumed that just like in Toronto most TA's don't visit much outside of the local scene forum, though I may be wrong. Now, there was a good response in some threads, but in some there was a rather puzzling response. Several threads were abruptly closed by moderators, and LOL I've been even called "AssKisser of the Month" by someone, pretty funny I must admit.
My question is, although it is a moderator's job to bring some order to forums, is it necessary or appropriate to over-do it? Did they have to exercise their "power" and not give people a chance to post if they wanted to? I mean, not all TA's are on forums as frequently as the mods to see the thread elsewhere. HaHa, I was even called rude for not saying "hello" in my post by the France forum mod. What the fuck???
Whatever. I realize none of us want tons of irrelevant posts in the forums, but give me a break. I just thought it would be nice for Swamper, and anyone who knows me in Toronto would know I am no asskisser. Bottomline, I think some mods are in it more for the power than to keep the order, as one thread to thank\congratulate the founder of the site won't create disorder.
What do you guys think?
