I replied this to the other RIAA thread, but it was closed when I went to post.

I agree. I think the RIAA is actually a bunch of communists. They promote intellectual equality, by allowing noone to be able to download the songs, or even a means to share them. This is inhibiting our freedoms, which is outlined in the constitution. They are also promoting economic equality, by forcing me to buy a cd that the RIAA takes the most money out of, compared to a less percent for the artist. Thus making me lose money on a CD I should by all means be allowed to try.

Enough of that though, the RIAA doesn't seem to get it through their head that nothing will stop music pirates. The RIAA needs to do 2 things. Look at the problem, and try to fix it ACCORDING TO WHATS WRONG, and the REASONS FOR PIRATING. Along with that, they need to stop being so greedy. They receive millions of dollars. There are other things to do, than be greedy and get the money. If you are going to be greedy, why not give it to people who can use it, like shelters, or least developed countries. Another thing is, understand that it will never stop. Look into the future, and look at where this trend is taking the mp3 industry. Everytime they shut down a program like Napster or AG, it only makes it worse. If they had let napster stay up, everyone would share their music there. No problems, less legal fees, less harassment. Now the RIAA can contend with all these different programs, which now pirate movies and programs. I blame the RIAA for this. And so should other establishments whose intellectual properties are being pirated. Blame those communist RIAA bastards, and take them to court.

Bah, they'll never realise it! Let's face it, most of the music they're worried about is not art, is some Britney-Spearish thing that was recorded for one simple reason: money. Sharing mp3's is harmless to art, even because doing this, we can have access to songs that we wouldn't ever hear in a local radio or in a usual record store. How would we purchase a vinyl if we had never heard the tune before? The problem is not the RIAA, it's the music system. Unless we change it, the only way we can support artists is buying their records, otherwise, they'll starve to death or get another job.

that is how they make their living by doing what they love
put yourself in their place
if u were a producer and u worked on a song for months would u just say hey here it is for free

u want to make some money from it what the hell else is gonna pay your damn bills
and what is gonna buy your equiptment to make the music ever thought of that
until u have worked in this cut throat industry the keep your immature comments to yourself

We all know money is necessary for producers - we're just saying that the way their work is treated is wrong. MP3's are good for the trance scene, because without them, we wouldn't get to know much of it (however, we know it's not harmless for those whose clips are shown on MTV, for example, because their music is easy to get and piracy is a problem). Another problem is that RIAA sholdn't be so greedy, because discs are obviously overpriced. Producers are treated as a product for profit by record companies, and that's not right. Do you understand what we mean now, Neo?

PS: Could you use some ponctuation signs like "? / , / . / !"? It gets really hard for non-native speakers to understand what you mean

Yeah, it was also difficult for me to understand what he was saying in the last sentence.

If people like the music to stay underground, fine let the music industry shut them down, however the underground talent wont be able to be heard. Without a medium to share mp3s, like audiogalaxy, djs wont be able to share their mixes, producers wont get heard as much. Without mp3s most of us would not have heard of Yahel, or Astral Projection, or Infected Mushroom etc.

Djs make a load of money playing gigs if they get big. But some djs are not that big and would love to get heard.

To the point:

record industry=greedy

business equals greed
all business

If I produced trance singles, I probably wouldn't care if people spread my stuff around the internet. I can't imagine that guys like Tiesto or PVD make a whole lot of money from singles, or even albums (has a trance CD ever gone platinum? I doubt it). The underground music scene is all about getting yourself known so you can charge gobs of money to play gigs around the world.

If I was a trance producer/DJ I would be happy to have my songs swapped on the internet, because 99% of people downloading the songs would never actually buy the singles anyway.
