Ok so having a discussion with a friend, and a quick question

Is techstep a subgenre of techno? My answer is no, it's dnb that's fairly techno influenced and in particular has darkish mood. Although tbh I don't know that much, but enough to know that it's not techno when you listen to it in comparison to dnb and techno.
