Challenge: make a track with only five samples and one synth
The challenge: Construct a track using five 909 samples provided in a ZIP file, plus one synth of your choice. The synth can be software or hardware. You can of course use effects and audio editing to transform the samples in whatever way you want. But your sources of raw sound must be limited to the one synthesizer plus the five 909 samples. If you choose to use a ROMpler or sample-based synthesizer, you cannot use any of the drum samples included with it.
When you link to a finished file, I will upload it to a permanent host and link to it in this post so that we can have all the links to the finished tunes in one place. If you would rather I not do this with your track, just tell me.
The point: I've found that limiting my tools can help bring out creativity and help me concentrate on writing a track rather than fiddling with controls. Also this will serve as a test of creativity and resourcefulness.
The ZIP file: http://jbj.raceriv.com/sounds/challenge/Challenge.zip
Samples included: kick, open hi-hat, closed hi-hat, clap, crash.
Who's up for the challenge?
