Hi one and all, this is my first post.

Can anyone help me, I am basically looknig for software that will filter out differents sounds/instruments from a track.

Example - If I wanted to use the Synths from Rank1's Awakening, removing the bass, trebble and everything in between, is there any Software I can use ?????

well.. sorry 2 disappoint u.. but u can`t..

because the things u want 2 remove (bass n stuff) mostely have some of the same frequences as the main synth in it.. so u can`t filter them out..

so.. u gotta re-make the synth with an producing program (fruityloops for example) but this is very hard!

so.. there isn`t much 2 do..

I know exactly what you mean, but it can't be done i wanted to do the same thing for ages, but the only way you can do it is if you have all of the original samples, which you usually won't be able to get.

How bout synthesising the sound yourself? the synth of awakenings must be like one of the easiest sounds out there to create (dj mantis?, very hard..., any chance?). It's the typical double detuned saw waveform that you need to fatten up with reverb, chorus, delay, compression, unision, detune, ... and play with the enveloppes. You'll learn a lot more that way. BTW if you really want that sound there's the benicio remix that has a part of the song with the synth track solo so you can easily sample it you lazy bastard but remember this is the worste solution, you'll only be able to play a decent sound around the original key you sampled (what they call multisampling to solve this) :

Cheers guys, thanx for the advice, but I have to upgrade my PC to make full use of the stuff you guys are referring to, but I am saving to move to the UK, so I think I rather be living in the UK, trancing along then Stuck in Durban, South Africa, where 330 is the only place to listen to good trance, and even that is becoming more of DRUG HAVEN than a place where music can be appreaciated !!
