Looking for kit for a new sound

Heres what I use:

Access Virus B
Nord Rack
Sylenth1
Vanguard
NI Pro 53
Atmosphere
Superwave P8

So I've got the VA thing pretty much covered. All the above apart from Atmosphere give me similar sounds, don't get me wrong this gear is capable of a huge array of sounds but what I'm after is a Synth VST or hardware which will allow me to make sounds fundamentally different to the those made by the kit above - most of the above are subtractive (right? ) Perhaps another synthesis method??

Any ideas??

I would highly recommend checking out Tone2's Gladiator2. I believe version 2 was just released as well, so you're going to be getting something most do not have yet . It uses an amazing synthesis process, is loaded with nice presets, and has a nice random button. I tried it out and I one thing that I really liked about it was you could tell a huge difference as you raised voices, even past 16. I think part of this is because of the advanced synthesis the synth uses. It's also protected by the best CP I have seen yet and doesn't require a dongle or any of that nonsense. Don't be fooled, there are torrent copies out there (trust me, i know) and they do not work. They're good for trying it out though if you are into that.

Cryophonik is a big fan of it as well I believe.

Here is a link for info on it.

I have the demo of Gladiator but haven't tried it yet, sounds like I need to.

Reaktor - I know a mate uses it, you sort of build your softsynth with it don't you? - in a non synthedit way!

Sort of. I've never made one myself (should probably try one of these days), but the user library has tonnes of different synths, samplers and effects.

There's lots of crazy effects, weird fm/grain/wavetable synths and so on.

Well worth it for alternate timbres.

Right O, next time I'm at his studio I'll interrogate it.

I'd say Gladiator whore is a more fitting description.

Other synths that you may want to check out:

- NI FM8 - a good FM synth is always good to have around.
- Camel Audio Alchemy - additive, granular, and spectral synthesis (+subtractive synthesis) - it's marketed as the ultimate sample mangling synth.
- Omnisphere - synth/rompler - has additive, FM, and limited granular synth capabilities as well.
- DSI Mopho - cheap analog mono synth, but it sure is a ton of fun.
- DSI Mono Evolver Desktop - cheap analog/digital mono synth that can get pretty wild sounding. Check out youtube vids to see it in action - you'll have a hard time believing it's monophonic.

Speaking of Alchemy, I just noticed over on KVR that the long-awaited 1.10 update was released yesterday:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=255026

I haven't downloaded it yet, but it looks like some new features have been added, lots of bug fixes, and 150 new factory presets (all free to registered users). Camel Audio has excellent customer service and Alchemy is pretty amazing synth. I highly recommend giving the demo a go, watching the vids on their website, etc. if you're interested in something that specializes in other forms of synthesis.

Really digging your stuff, so nice work on that. Personally I'm a huge fan of V-Station and Z3ta+, both of which i use for pretty much anything that comes to mind. I also use reason via rewire a lot and to me the possibilities are endless, maybe you could check it out, sometimes it really helps get my creative juices flowing. BTW sent you a pm.

My PC doesn't have the beans to run Omnisphere, well it does, but it would only be able to run that! As for hardware, if I buy any more I'm going to get murdered by my Mrs. FM8 or Alchemy it is then, she can't see those as they are VST's. Nice
