Agreed. I prefer the Essential House (vol's 1 & 2) over the Club packs. But, I got the Thomas Penton Essential series (vol's 1-3) a few months ago and haven't touched the Vengeance stuff since!

Drums overkill is alright. I prefer layering my own kick drums these days though.

Pentons samples were unuseable to me. Everything is limited. Sometimes really heavily! what is that all about? most of the sounds look like square waves lol.

The Thomas Penton Essential Series (1 and 3) contains a lot of good, clean kick samples, as does Vengeance Essential Clubsounds 2 and 3. It's hard to imagine you'd still be searching for kick samples if you have those, there's such a wide range.

I heard that the Thomas Penton stuff doesn't require any layering? It can be used "straight out of the box" as was said in that earlier thread? Do people agree with this?

Sounds of revolution - club revolution = the best trance kicks going IMO.

Depends what you're after. I don't layer kicks, whether I'm using Vengeance or Thomas Penton. Choose a kick sample that fits really well, set an appropriate level, send it through to the master channel. Job done. (though I usually shape it with a dB or two of EQ).

The Sounds of Revolution - Club Revolution samples have a different sound to them, which hasn't worked out for me yet. There might be a demo pack of that so you can try it out though.
