*Thread moved to chill out*
With the advent of AG being effectivly closed by the RIAA and the fact that MP3 sharing is still frowned upon by most of the major labels, commercial or otherwise, the fact that tranceaddict.com is the 3rd most popular trance music site (according to google.com) and also due to the fact that tranceaddict.com is well known to DJ's, producers and record labels, it stands to reason that tranceaddict.com has and is under scrutiny by various authorites that wish to see MP3 file sharing totally abolished for copyrighted work.
Therefore tranceaddict.com needs to distant itself from such activitie's.
It does not matter that tranceaddict.com is not based in the USA, Canada too has it's own version of the RIAA as does England, Europe and most major developed countries.
Until an established AG alternative comes along, the authorities will be looking at all other sources of obtaining MP3 files from the internet and if tranceaddict.com is seen as a place where information to access such files and as a place to readily obtain mp3 files then it will also be a target.
tranceaddict.com is 1st and foremost a site for trance related issues, as in discussing the music, the quality of Dj's , production's , where the scene is going etc, NOT as a source for mp3.
As a MP3 downloader myself I do understand how everyone on these forums feel, I myself see the fact that trance MP3's have been so widely available is good for the scene, it's taken the genre to area's of this world that possibly would not have had trance music otherwise, even in the highly commercial realm of the USA, trance music is not widely available to buy, so the use of MP3 in those area's can only be good for the scene as it brings trance to a wider audience and some of those ppl exposed will explore ways to BUY trance either thru importation or by buying online, so therefore generating new sales.
It is a fact that record sales have gone UP since the advent of places like Napster but the commercial record labels fail to see that, all they see is each downloaded track of an artist say like Britney Spears is another few cents that has not gone into their pocket.
What they fail to see is yes maybe some person has Dled 2 britney tracks but that has prompted them to buy the album on cd.
It's all swings and roundabouts with the MP3 scene, some producers like Armin do realise the benefit of MP3 but in the overall aspect of things, Armin is not a big name in the world of music and therefore has little say in the commercial realms of popular music.
In essence what i am trying to put across to u all is that Yes AG is dead, but their is no need to lose your heads and start posting all over ta forums about this or that hub or places to obtain mp3, an AG alternative will surface soon enough and then the hubs will be mainly forgotten about.
Until there is that AG alternative, don't give the authorites another legitimate target in tranceaddict.com, just for maybe a couple of weeks of mp3 files being scarce, do u really want to risk losing a site like tranceaddict.com and get Swamper into all sorts of shit ?
Why should He have to pay for U to obtain a few mp3's ?
I suggest that u all think about the long term effects of your short term solutions just cos u want a few mp3's.
as a footnote, We have the DJ forum's here for up and coming producer's artist's to showcase their work and there it is legal for them to post their mp3 as long as it's their own work.
Try downloading some of those guys work, most of it is really good and its Legal
