I'm looking at buying a used projector and am hoping anyone with experience or knowledge with projectors can lend there insights helping me make a decision:
I'm faced with two different Models (detailed specs below:
Epson PowerLite 730c - this is an older model that I may be able to get for about $300CDN (bulb has 250hours on it) and its a model from 2002 ...2000lumens
Sanyo PLC-XU75 - newer model that will be double the price at $600. but next to no bulb life used 2500lumens and its a model that was released late 2007

i know, i was thinking about that too. I don't know if the contrast ratio will be as important on a projector as it would on an HD TV. Afterall, my purpose is mostly presentations, so I will surely use it for some movies, but its not the focal point of me buying it. Keep in mind the prices too. (other suggestions are welcome and other brands, but projectors usually go for over $1000 and way more if talking 1080p)

tbh if your main use of it is going to be presentations, and not for television viewing, dvd, etc... im sure either are more than sufficient, just take the cheapest one, although im really not an expert

get the sanyo.
why?
-quieter operation
-more lumens
-they make projectors for pro-grade work alot more than epson do
otherwise..
-both share the same resolutions & very similar contrast ratios.
If this is for home theater or gaming, you may benefit from saving up and getting a brighter projector. 3k to 5k lumens on a projector is far more desirable, and with larger resolution, you're better off.
OH! and the first projector I once used when a client brought it to work, and it was a piece of crap.... long story short, the focus was broken and the contrast levels dwindled as the day went by.
