Rewiring 7506's

Ya, so my not so beloved 7506's wire is fucked right near the capsule.

Is it best to:

a) Send to Sony for repair (I am guessing this will be costly)

b) Attempt repair myself (I am guessing this could be tricky and I will fuck it up)

c) Sell them for spares and buy some Sennheiser?

Opinions!!!

Well i can definitely tell you NOT to go to Sony. The jack on my 7506's broke and I just replaced the very end of the cable myself, Sony are kind of assholes when it comes to customer service. Probably best to just get rid of them and look for something else. I'm sure most people here will recommend AKG K240's or K701's.

I fully agree with all of you guys. They are shit, you'll see this if you look in the 7506 review thread, but I get some fuck nugget called Tony telling me it's because he's a professional and I am not that they sound bad. What a belm.

They are most over hyped, tinny piece of crap I ever spent my money on, dunno what those other guys used to listen to before they got blown away by the magnificence that isn't the sony's... fisher price perhaps? But atm I am broke so I may try a bodge repair job.

There is nothing *wrong* persay, with the 7506. They are too "sparkly" and don't have enough low-end. But if you keep that in mind, and get used to how they preset sound, good mixing can be done with the 7506.

However I do agree that they ARE hyped as the industry standard. Ultrasone, AKG, and Sens are equally priced manufactures that make (in my opinion) superior headphones.

Of course you can always get the ULTRASONE PROline 750, like me.

You speak the truth.

But your argument can be used toward anything, given time you could pull of decent mixes on a pair of iPod ear buds.

As for the skull candies, at least they look shit and make no pretences on being awesome.

Personally, I love my 7506's. The high end is clean and sharp and the mids aren't muddled like many others I've tried. I can understand when a lot of people say the bass is weak, it kind of is. When I first got them the bass sucked but it has gotten better. I think the main thing about the bass is that it's not heavy and booming, it's clean and defined. You get very deep frequencies (down to 10hz) but they're not overpowering.

also, lol at the skullcandy

They are closed back, so the bass is boxy and muddles the mid range.

Highs really are too high, honestly I dunno what is going for these headphones. I was actually more impressed by the balance the mdr 300's my bro uses for his walkman had.

But I guess it's pointless arguing cause people will always throw the professional card up in my face. I'd love to see a blind A/B be done with a few cans half the price and have people say which ones they thought sounded the best. Even then I am guessing the tards would say, "we didn't pick the sonys for sounding good because they dont they are professional bad sound for professionals"

This has wound me up too much I am not commenting again.

I present skull candy.

In conclusion, not all humans hear things the same way so it is only obvious that one pair of headphones may sound great to one person but sound like shit to another. For example, I tried out a pair of $300 headphones and still preferred the sound from my 7506's. I'm sure a different person would find the opposite to be true.

So, yeah.
