Argh! Help with Logic audio editing....

Having real problems with ultra accurate editing in logic and it's driving me insane so hopefully one of you well educated peeps can gimme some sanity.

Basically, I'm trying to edit down a few different pieces of audio from say 4 bars to 2 or in some cases 8 bars to 4.

Simple enough right?

For some reason I cannot get the end of the sample (where I'm making my cut) to land exactly on the the bar. It's either just before or just after which is causing problems with timing after several bars.

I've tried changing the snap value to everything possible, setting the payhead at the end of the bar and splitting by playhead, then doing the same by splitting by locator.

When I try to drag the length to where I want it it falls either side again. If I hold option and drag it, it does actually go to the line but the moment I release the mouse, I get the "creating overview: dialogue and it gets made smaller!!!!

I can't think what it could be. Help! Please! This is making want to kill some kittens

Bumpizzle.

No one? this is making me crizazy.

A temporary work around is to place every 1 bar sample at the start of every bar, but as you can imagine, it's tedious.....
