I have a Presonus Firebox. Just finished installing it on a freshly installed computer (windows Vista x64)

Basically the computer recognizes the music to be playing when somethings in mediaplayer/cubase etc. but the problem is I can't physically hear it. (to avoid the obvious, speakers are plugged in and powered on/volume up) Any idea what I could be missing here?

Hi, I've had similar problems in the past.. Do you have on-board sound installed as well? If so there are a couple things you can do. You should set the Presonous to your default audio device. This sorted out my problem with apps like winamp etc because from what I've seen the players don't have a soundcard selection option and just use the default sound card to play back sounds.

yip exactly what wayne said. also check your bios as you might have to disable your onboard soundcard.

appreciate the responses guys. Unfortunately I'm still soundless. I disabled onboard sound in the bios and Presonus Firebox is the default sound card. The first time I did an install on vista 64, it worked fine straight away. Can't seem to figure this one out.

Ok, time for the next step then!
I think the players i.e winamp/media player etc. use direct-x drivers so try and install direct-x again now that the Presonous is attached. After that I'd re-install the program in question if still no sound.
