Chitlenz live Mixset - Psytrance

Heyas folks, my name is Chitlenz (it's a long story). I've actually been around here a long time, but I have no idea what my original login was so I created a new account. Anyway, I play harder trance in North Carolina, and last week at a party someone threw the following mix was captured. There's a few errors, but almost of them were recovered ok (although when some folk bumps into the coffin like they did in the first track, what can you do?..).

I've actually been playing and collecting dance music since the early 90's and some of these guys are real classics. Seratto was setup for the other folks who played, but I always like to stay on vinyl, which is where all of these came from. We used Technics Mk5s, a Denon mixer (not sure which one, I have a Korg I like.. sort of.. anyone else breaking tabs on these?... but I digress), through a Mackie mixing console, several McIntosh pro compressors, back through a FireBox, and out through a 15kW Cerwin Vega PA (with Yamaha monitors). The sets were recorded via a Tascam recorder and then compressed with mp3pro compression. It was loud. VERY loud heh, but we set the place off and had a good time.

The download link (right click / save target as) is at

Chitlenz DJ Gathering Greensboro Set Two 7-7-2009.mp3

and the tracklist was:

1) X-Dream - QuantumLab 05:54
2) E-Rection - Out here we is Stoned (X-Dream Mix) 04:34
3) Nick Sentience and Harry Diamond - Trippy 05:13
4) Lost Tribe - Gamemaster (Lee Haslam's Tidy Mix)
5) Nu NRG - Casino (Original Mix) 04:54
6) Log:One and Dj Wragg - Am Frequecies 6:15
7) InterPhaze - Stylerz (Original Mix) 6:19
8 ) Marco V - More than a Life Away 5:16
9) SystemBot - Never Be Alone (Nitrous Oxide Remix ) 5:58
10) Aly and Fila - Ureaus - Frase Remix 04:45
11) Murphy Brown and NuNRG - Aloa P (Mr. Pink Remix) 07:26

I don't get to play psytrance very often since Greensboro is a DnB town (I mix liquid too), but it is by far the bulk of my record collection.

Thanks for sharing my music yall.

Feedback always welcome.

Edited - 7-15-2009, I had the tracklist wrong, corrected with links to releases.

You can find some other mixset postings from people
(notably my partners) in the Greensboro area at my website Chitlenz.com

I didn't see this. Looks like some Tech-trance with some psy influences. I'll take a listen

This mix is very quiet, try normalizing the audio after recording a little less The first track was a little boring, but you're banging pretty hard in this next track. Ouch, your transition at the end of 20 minutes was way off beat, and it took you too long to finish out the track. Lost a lot of energy here. The track at 28 minutes is a stomper, I like this one a lot. Hrm, sounds like some hard trance as opposed to psy, but there is some psy elements in here. A bit of a genre confusing track. Your transition at 31 minutes was okay, but it seemed like the track wasn't near as hard as the previous one. The rest of the mix was pretty good, the transitions as a whole were sometimes shaky, but the flow of the set was decent. I liked the melody in the last track quite a bit!

It seems I was right in my guess initially, this was more of a tech-trance with psy elements mix. I enjoyed it, really nice tracks here, you don't come across this kind of stuff too often. Nice job, next time try to record with better audio quality!

Thanks!!!!!

Thanks for the review man, it means a lot =)

Yeah I know I screwed some of the transitions, but it held together pretty well for not having used the setup before. I didn't like the mac the guy was using, and recording with cubase seemed like overkill, plus i don't think the export filters worked like he thought they did (it seems too bass heavy to me, but whatever). I find myself really liking Audacity, but I think for production reason seems like the most intuitive. I dunno, that's the future, again tho, appreciate the listen!!!
