What's the secret to make the whole thing pump so hard?
example: Dave 202 - Departure (youtube)
Maybe this is a key to compensate very well the loss of dynamics in these loudness apocalypse days..
What's the best way to do?
* Sidechain tracks hardly in the mix stage?
* It will be only done if the mastering was more dramatic compressor adjustments?
* It's better on a single band mastering compressor than in a multiband?
* Sidechain all the tacks together (not kick and vocals off course) grouped in a submix?
Any help will be much appreciated

It's done in the mixing stage, heavy ducking of heavy compressed tracks with kick as the trigger, banging master is made because the meters were practically flat in the mixdown stage already, so some mastering compression (a good master compressor, not multiband) and a limiter afterwards do the trick.

Just sounds as though they submixed EVERYTHING to a group and sidechained that group to the kick drum. Plus it sounds completely overcompressed as if a master compressor was used to make it pump even more! Horrible mixing imo

Yeah, what started as a tool turned into a trick (effect) which turned into the standard which became cliche.
I seem to think that kind of sound is finally on the way out.
