Here is an interesting ebay story i thought i should share with my tranceaddict friends:
i bid on 2 records, paid, and one arrived quite scratched. I was going to leave neutral feedback, but then i decided to do a little research first. this is the email i just sent to the seller:
i felt i had no choice but to leave you positive feedback, regardless of the quality of the item.
I went into your feedback record, and saw you had only 1 negative and 5 neutral. I investigated further and found that the negative was probably a deadbeat bidder. nonetheless you retalliated with a negative against him anyway, ruining his otherwise perfect record
You had 5 neutral, and i went into each of those, starting with the most recent.
Your first neutral was for a cat and basket. they paid, recieved the item, felt it wasn't in as good of condition as you described, and left you neutral feedback.
Nonetheless, you gave them a negative in retalliation, ruining their perfect record.
Your next neutral was from someone buying a record. He left the following feedback:
Grading discrepancy: LP advertised VG++; I would call it VG+/VG (VG+ at best)
you retalliated with a neutral of your own, ruining this guys perfect record as well.
(coincidentally, this is exactly how i felt about one of the records you sent me, and this example was very illuminating.)
Your next 2 neutrals came from the same person. he left you neutral feedback, and you retalliated with neutrals ruining their otherwise perfect record as well.
I went through you entire feedback history, and way back in 98 i found your first neutral feedback. you had already given the user a positive in oct 98, and then in nov 98, he gave you a neutral ruining your perfect record.
i see, that this is where you got your policy of not leaving feedback until the other party to the transaction has done so. this way you can be free to retalliate and match their feedback.
Now, i am a new user to ebay, but i have a obviously done my homework. one of the records i recieved from you was BADLY scratched. However, after checking your feedback, i was afraid to leave you negative or even neutral feedback, knowing that you would retalliate against me with an equal feedback.
I know you offer a return policy, this is stated in your auctions. However this wasn't an option for me(and probably isn't for most people) since the cost of shipping must be paid by the buyer TWICE. the shipping was more than the cost of my item, so, by shipping it back to you i would have simply lost more money.
so have a good day, thanks for the records, even though one is scratched it still plays.
I will not buy from you again, because i fear your retalliatory feedback practices, and rather high shipping costs.
i am glad that we both got positive feedback out of this experience.
