It's because you have gemini tables, they don't have much torque.

you could try putting a circular piece of wax paper under the slipmatt to make it more slippery.

but, the best solution is to get technics.

I agree with JohnSmith, best solution is to get tech's.

But otherwise, I have two Numark TT-100's that have OK torque but not that great, and on some records (the heavier ones), the platter stops when I try to backspin, just like your situation. What I usually do in solution is to lift the record ever so slightly from where I'm holding it down, so that less friction is created between the record and the slipmat. Usually the platter keeps spinning when I do this.

that's the solution right there. But the TEchnics comment, sorry but that's BS. Gemini PT2100 are great TT's for home DJ use. Sure they're not Technics but they are just fine

You can just cut a circle out of some wax paper. or sometimes records come with this kind of stuff inside. already cut into a circle.

as for techs, well, they would have better torque and thus be better.
but gemini 2100s would be ok anyway prolly.

On my decks most records are fine but its only on thicker records like Push it slows down? But on Southern Sun etc its fine cause they are thinner. Why the hell do they make all the reocrds different thicknesses?
