I imagine you are having problems with file transfers and what not. If you are running small network, you're probably in NAT, which also can create some communication issues. Apparently you just want to get rid of it. Be sure you know your IP, whether it be static or dynamic, just to be safe for when you reboot and "shake". Though you can configure some settings, most hardware firewalls configuration are tough to get around, for a reason. Best bet is to just run a direct connection and not use it the gateway/firewall at all if you really don't feel like messing with it.

I would strongly advise keeping it, BUT. . .

if you really want to get rid of it just log on to it as the admin and allow all traffic on all ports to go unobstructed. Poof, your firewall just turned into a broken window

you need to redirect all requests to your machines IP...
basically whenever a ping/packet goes out from any machine the return will be redirected to your machine. in the advanced tab you should see something about redirect/relay i forget since im work, but when i get home i can check it...but there is a big list and it has the option 2 boxes with a ~ in the middle of each
basically its asking all request to YOUR network will be routed to which IP on your network and which ports to access...
i hope im right...hehe i havent touched my dlink in a minute..but yea i still had problems with messing with it so i just stopped...

You'll probably have to enable port forwarding for ports you need to access stuff.

ie: port 21 for FTP transfers, port 8000 for streaming audio (usually)
