Easy to use, small basic MIDI writing program? (help)

Here is the scenario......I work nights in a hospital (I'm an RN) and I want to be able to write MIDI loops while i'm at work. I can't do Ableton because its something I will have to delete and install with every shift. I'm looking for something that i can carry on a CD-R that will install quickly and allow me to write basic MIDI. Obviously, the more instruments the program has the better.

Any suggestions?

What about Reaper? As you can run it from a USB key or other removable media.

Then install some pure .dll synths like synth1 in the plugins folders for the sounds.

The point isn't to "get out of your body", it's to bring awareness to your consciousness while you're experiencing another reality.

Can it export MIDI to a PC? I don't care about anything more than that.

I though it could, but apparently it doesn't have MIDI.
Too bad, seems like a fun sketch pad otherwise.

Apparently you can run Reaper off a thumb drive. Reaper is good for writing melodies from chord progressions, where you can see both at the same time.

Ableton still hasn't caught on to this concept.

The only thing I can think of is the Yamaha QY100.

You can pick the up used for about $200 if your lucky. Has built in sounds and can export midi but you will have to learn it.

For fucks sake, why does the embed code never work on TA?!
