All this talk about viruses

Ok i thought whats all the fuss about so i looked for a retailer for viruses thinking maybe Ill get one.

£1890 for a new Ti polar?

I take from the hype they are the very best right?

I could buy a whole new studio for that much is it worth all that money?

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.

They're not the best (there is no best), but very versatile.
They are overrated. Coming from a person that owned one 3 times (virus b and c). 3rd time is now (virus kc). Yet I somehow keep buying one after selling the other. I might sell it again some day but I need a midi keyboard and this one is pretty nice.

They're fun too.

The polar is always a tad more expensive since it's the special edition version of the Virus. Nice cool white.

And once you really get sucked into music production you'll notice 1800 is barely enough to get you started

I attribute most of their popularity to the TI function. People like being able to treat it like a soft synth. Sonically, it does not impress me. I thought about getting one but bought a Radias instead.

Virus has to be the greatest all around synthesizer ever, it doesnt seem to excel at anything particular it just sounds great at everything it does, and it can do a lot of things.
I would go as far as saying that its THE most versatile synthesizer of all.

Viruses are very popular with trance producers, which may be one reason why you hear a lot about them around here. "Best" is a label I would hesitate to apply to any one synth.

I tend to agree with the other opinions here that it is very versatile, but also tries to be all things to all people. The oscillators are very dark, and nothing about this synth stands out for me from a sonic perspective (which should be one's primary concern when buying a piece of music gear).

I'd rather buy a piece of gear that excels at one thing, rather than a piece of gear that does many things but excels at none.

I have had the first of the TI's an indigo II, and an indigo as well as a KC board... damm i know. And, from my experiences with the virus i think also they are very versatile (and good for trance) but one thing i would mention if your just after that particular type of sound i would go with the oldest version as its a hell of a lot cheaper and the sound banks are pretty much the same, they really havent changed that much at all IMO. forgive me if wrong!

I know have a KB keyboard, and this one i am keeping..lol
