Starting a Label: Recording and Remix Contracts

Does anyone know of a good site or way of obtaining some simple sample contracts for artists and remixers as I'm planning on starting my own label for a side project? Maybe from work they have done for other labels (minus the personal stuff )

I'm UK based and alot of the contracts I've seen are US tailored, not sure if that makes a huge difference for the main body text.

I've found these two examples online but they seem excessive

Your best bet may be to look into hiring a media or entertainment lawyer into drawing up a contract for your specific label, rather than using some pre-made contract. I don't know how much that would cost, though.

sign only friends/people you trust. no need for contract then. just be sure they havent used 3-part samples etc.
i got a few standard contracts around here btw but they suck, i didnt use themself as they seemed incomplete.

I'd say get a lawyer if you're serious.

Good points, if I want it done properly I'll contact a solicitor. I had a couple of numbers but have held off due to fear of the price.

Will report back so others will know a rough price for the future.

No you can buy standard industry terms from websites for all recording situations and then personalise by adding you name etc. Thats what i did for Sonixbox and they are written by media lawyers.

Google standard music industry contracts

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.
