Anyone in SoCal hearing those big booms outside?

I am on the Culver City/LA line and I hear big deep booms outside. I thought it was just somethign near me, but I know peeps in Torrance and in Hawthorne who can hear it too...

Anyone else hear it? Only posting this since I know peeps 10-15 miles away who can hear it too.

Of course, I wait 30+ minutes to make a post on it and as I do it stops.

It went on four about 40-45 minutes.

Might be nothing, but what sound could be so big that more than one person 10-15 miles from me could hear.

surprised you can hear it that far away.... tonite was the 100th birthday celebration for the Santa Monica pier...so they were having a huge fireworks show at 845-915 or so. i'm sure that's what you heard...

Totally has to be it. I thought they sounded like fireworks when I heard them but then a couple peeps we knew from the Hawthorne area and as far as Torrance (close to the beach) were hearing it as well. Guess the sound just carried that far. It can from fireworks. Before I moved to San Francisco, where I lived in Orlando was a good 15 miles from Disney World but on the right night we could hear the fireworks going off from our house. Could actually see them sometimes if we got on the roof of my friends two story house.
