The Office (US version) appreciation thread

Ok So I have Netflix now and I get to watch all 3 seasons online and I must say it's the best writing I've ever seen. I'm halfway through season 3 now and I absolutely can't wait 'till April 10th. Steve Carell's acting is just priceless. Please share your feelings, thank you.

Yep me neither. Is anyone familiar with the UK version though, like.....Ian. How would you compare the two, I want to watch it but I think I want to finish season three before I do so.

All the Brits & others who were watching the import before the U.S. version will inevitably call the U.S. version shit and champion the obvious superiority of the British version - those people are full of shit.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really enjoyed the British version - but a lot of the humor I get from the show has to do with U.S. cultural references that are just far more relevant to me than most of what's in the British version, so in the end I prefer the U.S. version pretty much solely for the obvious cultural reason: I'm from the U.S.

Yeh I was thinking that too, specially knowing the nature of the show I might be left in the dark for half the jokes. I'm still going to check it out though, thanks for the heads up.

Nice, you made it through the first 3 great seasons...now prepare for it to start sucking.

Jesus, the last season before the strike just got so dumb. Every funny joke had 2 awkward moments that were out of character and didnt fit, stupid plot twists...gah, makes me so angry. They had a great thing going but they started abandoning character fidelity for the sake of the plot which doesnt work for me...

I didn't see any of the new season prior to the strike, so I've got no clue as to its quality.

Seriously? I thought Season 4 has been awesome. The opening scene of the season opener alone was the funniest moment in the entire series for me.

I can't say whether you'll like it or not. It was still entertaining, but like I said, I can't stand when they write something for a character they've built over three seasons, to where you feel like you really have a good handle on who that character is, and then all of a sudden they're doing something ridiculous that just doesnt fit.

Example...finer things club. Jim would never lie about reading a book. Didn't make any sense.
